Inaugural "The Week Ahead": July 1-5


We already feature THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP*, FREE FRIDAY IN THE HAUTE giveaways**, periodic blogs*** and THE HAUTE video series**** — now we want to float a new weekly feature: THE WEEK AHEAD, a quick look at community events occurring in upcoming days. For our inaugural edition, this week sees REX Baseball taking on Chillicothe Paints at 7 pm tonight at Sycamore Stadium; a Public Forum on a shared jail & police station proposal at the Vigo County Public Library tonight at 6 pm (sponsored by Taxpayers Association of Vigo County & Citizens For Better Government in Vigo County); and Books and Brews book club at the Terre Haute Brewing Co. at 6 pm. On Wednesday, the Rex return to action hosting the Springfield Sliders at 7 pm., and The Landing at Fort Harrison hosts its annual firework (and laser!) starting at 6 pm. On Thursday, Independence Day festivities kick off with The Mile, the Wabash Valley Road Runner's Club run at Memorial Stadium beginning at 8 am. Sponsored by the Wabash Valley Horseman's Association, the 74th annual Frontier Day Parade takes place in downtown Terre Haute on Wabash Avenue beginning at 9:45 am. At 7 pm at Fairbanks Park, the Wabash Valley Rubber Duck Regatta 2019 sees thousands of yellow rubber ducks released onto the Wabash River as a fundraiser for Catholic Charities Terre Haute's efforts to fight hunger and homelessness locally. At 8 pm, the Terre Haute Community Band performs an outdoor concert at Fairbanks Park, so bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy in the music, then stick around for the City Fireworks Display over the Wabash beginning at dusk. Friday marks Downtown Terre Haute- THCC's First Friday festivities downtown and the Rex return to action, but you'll hear more about those in Friday's WEEKEND ROUNDUP.
