Taste Terre Haute Like Never Before

Local restaurants are joining forces for a two-week event this month called Taste Terre Haute.

Created by the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce and a small group of local restaurants three years ago, Taste Terre Haute was developed to bring awareness and diners to Terre Haute (and Wabash Valley) restaurants during a traditionally slow time in July.

The two-week event promotes dining specials and unique menus. A handful of the 30 restaurants participating are offering “Dine For Two” menus, while others are testing new offerings or bringing back old favorites. No matter the “taste” aka deal, diners should expect to be impressed.

“This is really a chance to be a tourist in your own town,” says Kelly Ford, co-owner of J. Ford’s Black Angus and the Chamber Restaurant Council Chairwoman. “Go try somewhere you haven’t been before or visit a restaurant and try something new. Take advantage of these two weeks, venture out into the community.”

The idea for Taste Terre Haute came from similar dining experiences, like Devour Downtown in Indianapolis. With such an eclectic mix of restaurants, cuisine and price points, Taste Terre Haute gives restaurants the chance to choose the offering and the diners will benefit.

New this year is a partnership with Terre Haute’s Pepsi Refreshment Services. Diners are also encouraged to fill out the entry form to enter to win one of five “Golden Keys”. Winners are invited to a VIP Party, followed by an 80's party held at the Indiana Theater on August 25th hosted by WTWO. One of the lucky “Golden Key” recipients will go home with a 1985 Corvette that evening!

In addition to the partnership with Pepsi, the Chamber is also proud to say the 3rd annual Taste Terre Haute has brought together more restaurants than in the past and many of those restaurants are getting more creative with their offerings. All information and deals can be found by visiting www.tasteterrehaute.com.

“The Chamber is always looking for ways to highlight our members and this is a great way to support local restaurants, while bringing a fun element to the community,” says Kristin Craig, Vice President of the Chamber. “By visiting the web site and checking out one – or more – of the restaurants, you’re supporting a local business and getting a great meal and great deal. What’s not to love about this event?”

Taste Terre Haute runs July 16 to July 29. Information can be found at www.tasteterrehaute.com.
